Paris: Ch. Gavard , c1838. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 10" by 6". Various. A very scarce work on the vast and fascinating collection of artwork held in the Palace of Versailles. Copiously illustrated throughout with over one hundred reproductions of work taken from the 'original drawings of the Large folio in Versailles', printed by the notable French polytechnician, engineer, publisher and lithographer Charles Gavard. Featuring an introduction by the French writer and critic, Jules Janin This copy is undated, dated using Copac. This text is written in the original French. With a bookplate of 'Captain Samuel Wyatt R.A.' tipped to the front pastedown. In a cloth binding with blind stamped design to the boards. Externally faded to spine. Bumped and slightly rubbed to extremities. Prior owner's bookplates tipped to front pastedown. Internally generally firmly bound, strained in places. Pages bright and clean, slightly age toned to edges with the odd spot. Slight chipping to the fore edge of the occasional plate. Very Good Indeed
