Illustrated end pages, 32 pages of black-and-white photographs, photographic illustrated dust jacket. There is slight rubbing to the bottom edge of the boards. Birthday wish from mum and dad on the half title page, 1 inch tear at the top right-hand corner of the dust jacket and a quarter-inch chair at the top left of the rear panel and 1/2 inch tear at the bottom of the front fold over. The biography of this remarkable Australian who spent time at Anzac Cove in 1915, and who returned and went bush as a drover and jackaroo,, became an active unionist and a committed Republican and socialist. Living with the injuries sustained at Gallipoli, he devoted much of his working life to helping others with disabilities. He epitomises the Australasian larrikin and reluctant hero. Full number line.
