May include a first or last copied page. G. The Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky, was built around 1834 and named after Dr. William C. Galt, a physician, whose residence had occupied the site. One of the famous early visitors was Charles Dickens who praised his lodgings, contending that they were as fine as those he had enjoyed in Paris. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1865 and reopened in 1869. It closed in 1921, and the third Galt House was opened in 1973 at Fourth Street and River Road..
