About This Item

Endicott, New York: Castalio Press, 1987. BRAND NEW condition in a bright and shiny BRAND NEW dust jacket. NEAR PERFECT CONDITION. The jacket has only very mild shelfwear (like you sometimes find in any new book store). NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO fading. Sharp corners. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked -- obviously never read. This golf bibliography has 4,800 entries, many annotated. From the introduction by Herbert Warren Wind: "It is a considerably expanded successor to Murdoch's THE LIBRARY OF GOLF, a bibliography that was published in 1968. Whereas that guide introduced the reader to about nine hundred golf books, both well-known and recondite, the new bibliography is a far more ambitious and inclusive work. Donovan, a bookseller whose hobby is collecting golf books, has ranged far and wide searching out books on golf, golf club histories, golf club handbooks, golf pamphlets, and verse and song about the game." Illustrated with numerous photos of book covers. From the preface by Richard E. Donovan: "I have arranged the bibliography into four eras: The Featherie 1620 to 1850, The Gutta Percha 1851 to 1900, The Rubber Core 1901 to 1960, The Hard Core 1961 to 1985. An introductory essay precedes each era, providing a perspective on the significance of the literature and the authors of that era. Entries are arranged by author and title and listed in alphabetical sequence, location where published, publisher, year, edition, pagination, binding, illustrator, size, and an assigned reference number." Author index. Title index. Club history index. Bound in the original gilt-stamped green cloth. Complete with dust jacket.. First Edition. Hardcover. New condition/New dust jacket. 8vo. xvi, 658pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
