About This Item
Minneapolis, MN: Milkweed Editions, 1988. First Edition, 2nd Printing . Soft cover. Very Good/None as Issued. R.W. Scholes (Illustrator). Text/BRAND NEW. Soft cover/VG w/light edge wear & faint creasings to front. Anthology/fiction from Mexican-American author Susan Lowell. 8 short stories, including "Los Mojados", precede the novella "Ganado Red". The latter, winner of the first Milkweed National Fiction Prize, follows one Navajo rug from its very creation by an impoverished weaver through its first wealthy owners in Tao of the 1920s, on to a Santa Fe rug dealer, and to finally rest on the floors of contempory yuppies. Lowell has a keen grasp and empathy for very different lives.
