About This Item

Grosset & Dunlap, 1927-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. Hardcover, 1927 Photoplay Edition (timed to coincide with the release of the 1927 film by Rex Ingram and starring his wife Alice Terry) Grosset & Dunlap 482 pages. Very Good+, in a VG DJ. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to green cloth boards with dark green titles and accents - corners sharp. Minor shelf/edge wear and some minor chipping to beautiful and scarce unclipped color illustrated jacket, minor toning and dust soiling to DJ - now in mylar. The front panel illustrations show a woman shielding herself from a desert sand storm with an inset of the cast in a desert oasis setting and are taken from scenes of the 1927 silent film (2nd time it was filmed). A very handsome Photoplay Edition from the last few years of the silent era. LOC SSS-02

Synopsis

The fatigue caused by a rough sea journey, and, perhaps, the consciousness that she would have to be dressed before dawn to catch the train for Beni-Mora, prevented Domini Enfilden from sleeping. There was deep silence in the Hotel de la Mer at Robertville. The French officers who took their pension there had long since ascended the hill of Addouna to the barracks. The cafes had closed their doors to the drinkers and domino players.
