Cloth. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Hardback Hardcover In his last novel, The Nostradamus Traitor, John Gardiner introduced readers to Big Herbie Kruger, the German-born intellectual spymaster working at the heart of Britain's security services. In the sixties, however, a few years after the building of the infamous Berlin Wall, Kruger's cover was destroyed. Nevertheless, a handful of surveillance agents, set up by Kruger and working in East Berlin, continue to be very much Herbie's responsibility. But when a high-ranking KGB officer commits suicide, and another defects, Kruger becomes more than a little concerned for the safety of his 'Telegraph Boys', as they are known. Big Herbie is authorised to mount an operation aimed at discovering if there is a double within the Telegraph Boys. Against orders, Kruger knows the only certain way is to go into East Berlin - emotionally a shattering experience. The way Kruger baits his trap, his desperate search in East Berlin to learn the traitor's identity before he, himself, is discovered, makes a marvellous and ingenious suspense story. small ink dot inside .
