Denver, CO: Frank S. Thayer, Publisher, 1892. Oblong folio. 13.75 x 10.5 in. Frontisp., illustrated title in red & black, numerous printed photographic images throughout (many of them mono-colour tinted), illustrated borders, and text illustrations, many w/ colour tinting. Printed light gray softcovers, backed in linen, embossed dark blue lettering on front cover (minor thumbing, soiling, edgewear), still VG- copy. First edition of this popular photographic souvenir filled with William Henry Jackson’s famed views of Colorado’s canyons, rivers, waterfalls, and mountains. This work features views of Denver, Pike’s Peak, Manitou Springs, Pike’s Peak Railway, Los Animas, Canyon, Durango, CO, Creede, CO, Telluride, Co mining camp, famous swimming pool at Glenwood Springs, gold mining on Cripple Creek, and more. Jackson’s (1843-1942) and his son Fred in their Denver studio had entered into a partnership with Chain & Hardy booksellers to produce view books such as these related to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
