Established in 1892 in Oregon first for wool scouring, then in 1895 for textile manufacturing as Pendleton Woolen Mills, the company's distinctive designs were created under the leadership of new owners in 1909, the Bishop family. Designer was Joe Rounsley, a Philadelphia Textile School grad, as were Clarence and Roy Bishop. In proximity to the Nez Perce, their wool designs were styled first after native weaving art, called "Indian pattern blankets". Prices in these listings are historic, not current.
