Clarke, covers with gilt panel with floral tooling to corners within gilt borders, spine in six compartments, gilt lettered direct in second, others richly gilt with floral tools within framed borders, raised bands with gilt fillets, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt, a fine copy; x, 526 pp.
This edition includes thirteen new figures, one of which, the Spotted Hyena replaced an earlier figure; a rearrangement of the text, along with descriptions of the new figures. This edition is the first to include scientific names and is also the fist edition to appear in imperial form.
