About This Item
New York: Liveright Publishing, 1935. Second Edition. Hardcover. Good/good. The authorized English translation of the revised edition. With a note of approbation of the translation by Freud. Complete and unabridged. Shelf wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book and more to the jacket which has several small tears and chips. First printing, no others noted. "The world famed psychologist, discoverer of a new world of the human mind, has summed up in one volume the entire subject of psychoanalysis in simple popular language so that every intelligent man and woman might benefit from the discoveries of the Master himself."--from the flap. Riviere was translation editor of the International Journal of Psycho-Analysis from its inception in 1920 until 1937. In 1921 she worked with Freud and his daughter Anna Freud, Ernest Jones, James Strachey and Alix Strachey on the Glossary Committee, and translating Freud's work into English. In his biography of Freud Peter Gay observed that "her renderings retained more of Freud's stylistic energy than any others." Books and other items ship promptly with a tracking number and (generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible.
