The book is tight with solid hinges, good tips, black top stain, and quarter teal cloth over red paper boards. Creasing to spine ends. The textblock is clean with no writing, bookplate, or markings and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. Pages lightly age-toned. The dust jacket is unclipped ($3.95) with a one-inch closed tear to the top front, wear to spine ends, mild soiling and age-toning to spine (see photos) Protected in a new Brodart Mylar cover. 301 pages. 5¼ x 8¼" tall.
Generation Without Farewell is set in a small Hessian town during the American military occupation of Germany. Its characters confront one another across the chasm of national differences between the conquered and the conquerors. Kay Boyle employs all her unique, well-known artistry and human warmth in telling the story of what ensues when antipathy, love, and social tension begin to interact.
