About This Item
Valentine, (1910).. Circa 1910, 6 humorous coloured postcards 'From B. and W. Drawings', captioned in red beneath the illustrations. 'Trapping Whelks' is very slightly worn at corners and has 3 pinholes in the background, small piece of paper adhering to the back where removed from an album, tiny rub to top corners of 'Snaring Eaglets' and 'Spearing Wild Moth', the rest very nice. A very good set of rare Heath Robinson illustrations. They first appeared in black and white in the Sketch in 1906. See Great British Industries and Other Cartoons from the Sketch 1906-1914, edited by G. Beare, 1985, where 11 of the cartoons in the series are reproduced. Our titles are: Trapping Whelks on the Shores of the Caspian Sea; Spearing Wild Moth in the Canaries; Porpoise-Sticking in Pegwell Bay; Snaring Eaglets in the Highlands; Gathering Whiting in the Yarmouth Roads; Noosing Wild Cats by the Kyles of Bute. MORE IMAGES ATTACHED TO THIS LISTING, ALL ZOOMABLE. FURTHER IMAGES ON REQUEST. POSTAGE AT COST.
