(Foreword). The prolific and popular Salford-born playwright, poet and novelist, Winifred Letts (18821972) was, early on, embedded in the Irish Literary Revival, through her work with the Abbey Theatre and Cuala Press. Later on, she wrote war poetry and a number of children's novels. Her collaborator, the illustrator Kathleen Verschoyle was Lett's sister-in-law.
