London: Sylvanus Urban, 1776. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. Single monthly issue, August, 1776, nicely bound in modern maroon cloth hardcover, stamped gilt cover, with modern endpapers. Presumably removed from an earlier binding, this has affixed to the front pastedown the armorial bookplate of Richard Cranmer. The Declaration of Independence appears on pages 361-362. The "Proceedings of the American Colonists" in passing the Port Bill in Boston appears on page 377. First appearance of the Declaration in an English publication, noted in the table of contents as the "Declaration of American Independency". Colored plate, showing a castle scene, present at page 352.
