New York : Popular Library, [1948]. A fresh edition of the 1925 classic, here enlivened with a famous cover by Earle Kulp Bergey (1901-1952). Foolscap 8vo (17cm). (126),[ii]pp. Original pictorial wrappers - a blonde much leered at; all edges green; some very minor wear; faint creasing; small ink-mark on upper wrapper; slight nick to lower wrapper; small inked price and reference number on preliminary leaf; some light pencilled scribble to outer leaves, but a nice, bright copy still.
Synopsis
Anita Loos was born in California in 1888. She began writing movie scripts and supplied film scenarios for D.W. Griffith and Douglas Fairbanks. First published in 1925, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was a best-seller in thirteen languages and was followed by its sequel, But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes . Anita Loos was the author of the novels A Mouse is Born and No Mother to Guide Her and two volumes of autobiography, A Girl Like I and Kiss Hollywood Good-by . She died in 1981.
