Första engelska utgåvan av ”Anecdotes du sejour du roi de Suède a Bender”. Det franska originalet utkom året innan medan en tysk översättning utkom redan 1759. Friedrich Ernst von Fabrice (1683-1750) var hertigen av Holstein-Gottorps minister hos Karl XII i Bender. Hans brevväxling, här utgiven postumt av C. Herold, dels med administrationen i Holstein-Gottorp och dels med holsteinska ministrarna von Goertz och greve Reventlau, är en viktig källa till historien om Karl XII i Bender. På svenska finns breven delvis tryckta i Gjörwells ”Swenska Bibliotheket” del 1, och delvis i ”Förrådet, eller samling af åtskilliga histor. och andra ämnen”, som utkom 1760, även den utgiven av Gjörwell. Ett urval publicerades även i bihanget till Motrayes resor. Den enda kompletta svenska översättningen finns i Floderus “Handlingar hörande till konung Carl XII:s historia”, som utkom 1819-26. Archibald Philip Primrose, femte earlen av Rosebery och förste earl av Midlothian (1847-1929) var engelsk politiker, bl.a. premiärminister 1894-95, och författare. Han skapade en stor boksamling på sitt slott Durdan, och skänkte bl.a. 3000 sällsynt skotska böcker till The National Library of Scotland.
