Dublin: Printed by R. Reilly for G. Risk, G. Ewing, W. Smith, and P. Crampton, et al, 1739 Fifteenth edition, "Corrected and somewhat enlarged; and a Set of New Maps, by Mr. Senex." Octavo. 8x5 inches. [16], 414pp. Title printed in red and black. 17 folding copper-engraved maps by John Senex. Full contemporary calf. Corners and extremities show light wear, both hinges broken and boards detached, rear endpapers lacking. Some occasional toning, title page lightly spotted. With the exceptions noted, a fine, clean and complete copy. A rare and desirable work that went through a number of editions, all sought-after, especially when the maps are in crisp condition. The copper-engraved folding maps include the World in double-hemisphere (showing California as an island), Europe, Scandinavia, Muscovy in Europe, France, Germany, Poland, Spain and Portugal, Italy, Turkey in Europe, Scotland, England, Ireland, Asia, Africa, North America (showing California as an island), and South America, all by the famous cartographer, John Senex. The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
