London: Punch, 1845. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good. George Cruikshank. First edition with original pen and ink study by Cruikshank mounted to ffep. 8vo, viii [x] [1] 284pp.with 12 steel engravings and numerous woodcuts throughout. Full brown calf with boards ruled and spine tooled in gilt and red morocco spine label with gilt lettering. All page edges in gilt with green endpapers. Signed by Reviere and Sons, stamped to verso of ffep. Good only with front board detached and wear and rubbing to edges of boards and some surface abrasions to rear board. Bookplate of Robert Downs of Denmark Hill attached to front pastedown.
