Description:
Petersburg, Va.: The Franklin Press Company, 1905.. 308pp. Original green publisher's cloth, gilt. Light shelf wear and rubbing to the spine ends and corners. Interior clean and bright. A very good copy. A history of the Gettysburg and Virginia campaigns derived from a compilation and analysis of official reports and correspondence for both the Union and Confederate armies as presented by a former Confederate Lieutenant Colonel of Artillery. Stribling presents the history of each campaign as a narrative of the initiating aggressor - the Confederate army in the case of Gettysburg and the Union army in the case of the Virginia Campaigns of 1864 and 1865. Stribling's analysis of official reports rather than his own memories of the events makes for a more balanced history. "Well organized and of some worth" - Nevins. NEVINS I, p.45.
