London: Bodley Head, 1933. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. First ediiton. Hardcover in silver paper-covered boards lettered in red and decorated in blue with image of galleon under full sail. 311 pp. plus 4 pp. publisher's adverts. Four full page illustrations in color and haed pieces in black and white by Stanley Rogers. A tight example, modest rubbing to the extremities and with scattered foxing to the edegs of the text block as well as the first few and final few leaves. A sea adventure/suspense novel compete with pirates, treasure, intrigue, "Terror Island", etc. Vice Admiral Sir Edward "Teddy" Evans was a noted Antarctic explorer, sent by the Roya Navy on a relief mission for the Discovery Expedition of 1901-04. He later was Scott's second in command and captain of the Terra Nova during the ill fated expedition to the South Pole in 1910-13.
