1590 1st Illustrated ed Tasso Jerusalem Delivered Italian Gerusalemme Liberata
"All he regarded; but in Syria most,
He mark'd the leaders of the Christian host:
That eye, whose penetrating glances dart
To each deep secret of the human heart"
– Torquato Tasso, Jerusalem Delivered, canto I
Originally written in 1575, Torquato Tasso's famous "Jerusalem Delivered" tells a mythical story of the First Crusade complete with Christian Knights battling Muslim warriors. This 1590 printing of Tasso is one of the earliest and is the first edition to include illustrations. This impressive and highly desirable edition includes annotations by Scipio Gentili and Giulio Guastavini which have separate registers.

Along with Juvenal, Persius was one of the greatest 1st century Roman satirists. His works consisted of elements of stoicism and were greatly influenced by Horace and Juvenal, in fact the satires of both Juvenal and Persius are often found published together. In his 'Satires', Persius sought a few major philosophical ideas:
·
important questions to ask the gods
·
the meaning of life
·
the importance of gaining knowledge
·
freedom through Stoicism
·
the proper use of money
This 1507 post-incunable printing of Persius's 'Satyrae' was published in Paris by Jean Barbier and Denis Roce. This edition was edited by Giovanni Britannico, a 15th-century grammarian who is best known for his edition of Persius.
This book is bound with another early Roce printing of Baptista Mantuanus poetry. Mantuanus was a Carmelite poet whose 15th-century works were influential during the Protestant… Read More

An important, 16th-century medical treatise by Orazio Augenio! 'De Ratione Curandi' includes a wide variety of medical topics but most famously covers the use and benefits of bloodletting. Known as one of the best Italian physicians of the Renaissance, Augenio incorporated his fondness of Galen into his philosophy-based practice – practices that regularly treated the plague and neuropathology.
