About This Item
Ottawa, Canada: Oberon Press, 1978. First Canadian Edition. . Hardback. Very Good/Good. First Canadian edition. Hardback in dustwrapper. 21 × 13cm, 154pp. Signed and dated by John Metcalf to the ffep. Two novellas from the Canadian author. The first, Private Parts, chronicles one narrator's "sexual and spiritual childhood and adolescence". The second, Girl in Gingham, follows the narrator's search for the perfect mate via an online dating service, with the undertone being his realization of people trying to invent themselves to fit what others want, or the ideals of their culture. Private Parts first appeared in Canadian Fiction Magazine in 1977 where it won the contributor's prize, and second was printed in Fiddlehead, a Canadian literary journal. Condition: The book itself is in very good condition, with some light dusting to the top edge. The dustwrapper is tanned to the edges and spine and with a crease along the bottom edge of the rear panel but is otherwise good.
