GIRLS TRIP - FUN WITH BOYS ON THE BEACH, EXMOUTH, ENGLAND, 1937 PHOTO ALBUM

There are fifty-six photographs of various sizes (many 2.5" x 3.5") in this beautifully maintained and cleverly annotated vacation album from England, 1937. The green faux leather "British Made" album measures 7.75" x 11.25" and is filled with brown paper pages, 24 of which are used with 12 blank in the back. The annotation is what makes this album particularly special - the author, referred to as "me" in many photos but never by name, narrates and comments on the vacation fun alongside the photos. The album begins with introductory photos of "us" (two women) and "the Bungalow" followed by a marching shot to Budleigh Salterton Beach. The friends ("Barbara" "Christine" and "me") enjoy sailboat races, mineature golf at Phear Park, motor boat rides (on the Dixon's boat called "Chubby"), rock climbing, beach ring toss, sunbathing, acrobatics, swimming and horseplay, a game of "rounders", and a trip and picnic lunch to Shell Cove. The three girls are joined by a gaggle of other friends, boys listed as Hughes, Moore, Ray, Salisbury, and Gordon, as well as members of the Dixon Family (Mr. and Mrs. Dixon and John) as well as an older Mrs. Hall. Good, honest, nostalgic fun with family and friends on a lovely trip. One larger photo, an enlargement of a smaller group shot also in the album, is included. The album is in fantastic shape, with some slight edge wear on the album cover corners.
