The jacket is lightweight with a few small chips in the front, paper missing at both ends of the spine, small chips in the back and wear at all corners. There is a gift note on the front endpaper. The binding has tanned a bit around the front and back edges. ; Sixteen color plates show a fraction of the thousands of magnificent glass flower models created in nearly half a century by Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka in Dresden, Germany for Harvard University. The models are of astonishing perfection, and nowhere else is there a comparable collection, covering a wide range of plants and flowers as well as the subject of this book, the insect pollination series. Included is a full explanatory text and a brief history of the origin and development of the Ware Collection that began by talks with the brothers in 1886.
