Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1897. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition with date on title page and no '.' on spine tail. No jacket. Bound in blue cloth over boards with gilded lettering, lines, and boxes to front, spine, and back. Two corners gently bumped, small ink dot on spine, and some minor scuffing; otherwise solid and square. No internal markings, inscriptions, stamps, or bookplates. Interior is lightly and evenly toned, otherwise clean and clear throughout with a tight spine. An excellent example of the first state of this work. BAL 7929.
