Price 25¢ rubber-stamped on front cover Originally published in 1897 this is No. 101 in the Eagle Library Series. Rathborne was a dime novelist, and an author of boys' books. He used many pseudonyms. The present work is set in South Africa and deals with the Boer War. First edition. Later issue with cancel title leaf tipped in on stub with 1897 copyright notice of F. Tennyson Neely on verso. 267 pp. Lost race novel (in Blyer). An ancient race of Caucasian origin in a mysterious city in an unexplored region south of Algiers, in a waterless region known as the "Sands of Death".
