New york: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1969. Book. Very Good. Cloth. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Gilt lettered quarter black cloth over gilt decorated white cloth. Wrapped in price clipped dust jacket that has pieces missing from the corners and top edge. Cloth worn at bottom edge. Small stain on back panel. Foxing to front edge. This copy is signed by the author on the half title "Best Mario Puzo" Not a pretty copy but still collectible..
Synopsis
The Godfather is a classic crime novel by Mario Puzo, detailing the story of a fictional Mafia family in New York in the 1940s and 1950s. This novel introduced America to the first family of crime fiction - the Corleones, and it remains a classic in American popular culture. Power, greed, and family loyalty all play out in this portrayal of the mafia underworld. Author Mario Puzo wrote the book based on his personal need for the cash advance, and the paperback rights for The Godfather went on to sell for a record $410,000. The mega-blockbuster 1972 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola featured Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and James Caan, among others.

Subtitle reads 'Devided into Provinces; with its sub-divisions of Counties. Baronies. &cc. Shewing their Boundaries, Extent, Soil, Produce, Contents, Measure, Members of Parliament, and Number of Inhabitants; also the Cities, Boroughs, Billages, Mountains, Bogs, Lakes, Rivers and Natural Curiosities Together with the Great and Bye Post Roads. The whole taken from actual Surveys and Observations By Bernard Scale, Land Surveyor and beautifully engraved on 78 Copper Plates by Messrs. Ellis and Palmer'. Brown leather with marble paper to boards. Maps in colour. Rubbing and a little scuffing to boards and wear to leather at extremities, a little darkening to paper to boards towards spine, some tanning to end papers at corners and near gutter, a little foxing to interior, very faint offset to adjacent pages from maps.
