The Dial Press. New York. 1965. FIRST EDITION (U.S). 8vo. Black cloth with two yellow blocks to the spine, lettered in black and red. Front board with facsimile of Baldwin's signature. Red endpapers. Top edge dyed yellow, other edges untrimmed. A fine copy of the book in a very good, bright and tidy dustwrapper with price of $4.95 on inner front flap. Photo portrait of Baldwin on the rear panel by Martha Holmes. Some light rubbing to the extremities of the wrapper but overall a nice tidy example.
Synopsis
Going to Meet the Man, published in 1965, is a short-story collection by American writer James Baldwin. It is concerned with racism in American society. The eight stories collected in the book are: "The Rockpile" "The Outing" "The Man Child" "Previous Condition" "Sonny's Blues" "This Morning, This Evening, So Soon" "Come Out the Wilderness" "Going to Meet the Man"
