Illustrated DJ/VG; strong & sound w/light rubs, short closed tears to edges, and trace discoloration/soiling. Anthology w/editorial notes by Theodore Stugeon (1918 - 1985). 10 science fiction adventures of which 7 were previously published with 2 written some forty years prior to this 1979 reassembly that the author took an active part by providing introductory remarks to each tale. Many have noted Sturgeon's rythmic prose; in the preface to "... and my fear is great ..." he writes: "I've been a "wordaholic" all my life, reveling in the texture and feel and shape and music of words". The contents are: 1, The Golden Helix; 2, The Man Who Lost the Sea; 3, And Now the News...; 4, The Clinic; 5, ... and my fear is great ...; 6, The Ultimate Egoist; 7, The Skills of Xanadu; 8, The Dark Room; 9, Yesterday Was Monday; and, 10, "I Say ... Ernest ..." Fine copy in lesser dust jacket.
