Much of my work deals with the idealization of memory, particularly concerning relationships. "My work can't be divorced from the aspect of time. All of my work is about memory; the influence of memories on identity, the beauty of nostalgia, and the disfunction of memory. This book is a monument to the act of remembering. Description:
Portland, Maine:: Rebecca Goodale,, 2012.. Edition of 3. 6 x 6"; 18 unnumbered pages. Handmade paper folded into 5 French-folded signatures sewn onto two straps. Handcolored collagraphs and velvet flowers tell the wordless story. Banded with button and thread closure. Rebecca Goodale has been documenting the extinct and endangered flora and fauna of Maine since 1999. Her books in this area, as Nicholas Schroeder said in a review of her exhibition Lullaby, "vivify, celebrate, and elaborate them, often with poetic flourishes, rich metaphor, and abundance of color. Their surfaces mirror her subjects' habitats, and the rhythm of their bindings borrows from their intricate and animate patterns." Once in a while she diverts from the specific theme of extinct and endangered to produce a playful book still with the theme of flora and fauna. Bird, String, Cricket is such a book. It is a playful book with bright colors and velvet flowers — a bird, a string, and a cricket.

Ironing boards covered with fabric with added enhancements of doll sized clothes. Text screen-printed on cotton or linen fabrics. Signed and numbered by the artist. Lise Melhorn-Boe: "Each copy of this book is different, as I was using up fabric from my stash during the third Covid 19 pandemic lockdown. The fabrics are colour-coordinated. I had a wonderful time making the little shirts, dresses, pants and skirts—I used a YouTube video to learn how to make pleats. It took me back to my childhood when I made a lot of doll clothes. I did order the teeny tiny buttons online." The text by Lorna Crozier is one of her odes to an unlikely candidate for literary celebration - the ironing board. Of the ironing board she says "There’s no harm in it, the ironing board. It’s pared down to bare… Read More

Materials: Legal ledger paper from the late 1800s and 1900s, museum board, hand-printed Arabic letters from magnesium plates, laser-engraved wooden boards, book cloth, stiff-leaf binding with leather wrappings connected to laser engraved camel bone pieces. Signed, numbered, and dated by the artist Islam Aly: "Statera" explores the rhombic dot system behind the Thuluth script. An Arabic, elegant, cursive writing that is used on architectural monuments and manuscripts. In Arabic, this system is called "Mizan Al Horof" (balance of letters). "Statera" shows each letter's specific structure, which is built of a significant rule: the number of dots. The 28 letters are printed in Thuluth script with vibrant red color, over regular handwritten text by ordinary people. Different styles, signatures, seals, notes, and markings from legal ledger paper contrast with the Thuluth script… Read More

Austin: Texas Writers Project, 2000. Original . Broadside. FINE. 24 x 36 inches, printed on high quality coated stock with metalic ink. Shipped- rolled in heavy tube. This fabulous poster was created especially for the featured author of Texas Writers Month in 2000 held in Austin, Texas by graphic designer Marc English. It is printed on heavy high quality coated stock in metalic inks: silver and bronze and laid over a duotone photograph of the rugged Big Bend country of West Texas. The poster quotes a long scene from McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN with drops of bronze red blood for emphasis. This is a stunning visual and carries the impact of the original text depicting a scene of horror as the savages line up on horseback along the ridge their glass beads and painted bodies caught forever in the sun's hot glare as they anticipate the massacre that would follow. Only McCarthy could make this scene so vivid you might have to put the book down and never finish it.
