The binding just a fraction cocked and with some fairly light fox spotting throughout. Former owner bookplate to the front pastedown. Very good in lightly rubbed, marked and chipped yet still very crisp price-clipped dust wrapper. The author's sixth novel, detailing the early months of the Second World War, written in July 1941 following Waugh's return home after the evacuation of Crete, and with a printed dedication to Randolph Churchill who was instrumental in Waugh's wartime commission. Fine in near fine to very good dust jacket, with abrasion to the lower spine around the publisher's name. The author's masterpiece, and one of the most important books of the seventies.

Light foxing on front free endpapers and title page. Previous owner's attribution stamped on front pastedown. A Western novel about a Mormon woman defending her ranch and the period conflicts between Mormons and Gentiles near the the southern Utah border as written by a classic American writer.
