Vienna, Austria: Printing Office John N. Vernay, 1925. First Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/None Issued. VG/1st ed. (U.S) Wonderful and mystical legends of the Golem, in this case, created by Rabbi Loew to protect the Jews in the Prague Ghetto from crimes comitted by non-Jews and blamed on them. These legends were translated by Harry Schneiderman with prepatory note by Hans Ludwig Held. The book is clean and tightly and securely bound. No marking or foxing. Sweet inscription to previous owner---this was a present for good Religous School attendence 1935-1936. Ten inserted b&w plates fronted with tissue paper. Spine has faded to a light gold color with black lettering on front and spine. Small dent to cover under title. 247 pages, with Table of Contents and Illustrations listed last in book. A quite remarkable book.
