About This Item

New York: William Morrow, 1998. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Remainder mark to bottom of text block; otherwise, in pristine condition. Signed on the title page by author. Lehane won the Shamus Award for Best First Novel with A Drink Before The War. Author's fourth novel in the Kenzie & Gennaro series and basis for the succesful movie of the same title. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on February 12, 2010, Lehane reveals that he's working on a sixth book in the Patrick Kenzie & Angela Gennaro series, his first in 11 years.

Synopsis

The tough neighborhood of Dorchester is no place for the innocent or the weak. A territory defined by hard heads and even harder luck, its streets are littered with the detritus of broken families, hearts, dreams. Now, one of its youngest is missing. Private investigators Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro don't want the case. But after pleas from the child's aunt, they open an investigation that will ultimately risk everything—their relationship, their sanity, and even their lives—to find a little girl-lost.

anyone interested in the "mystery" genre should run-not walk- to Mr. Lehane's body of work....be warned, though. it's not for the sqeamish or overly "sensitive" out there...the protagonists are flawed people and the Villians are truly perverse but the writing is superb...the entire series,of which GONE BABY GONE is a part, is well worth one's time...and it's set on Boston!!!!my god!...i am lousy at Book Reviews....to me reading is like breathing...as Duke Ellington said about music "if it sounds good it is good" transpose that to BOOKS and you're on YOUR way.....Lehane is a keeper..long may he write
