Brock on the limitation page—fine, without qualifiers. Brown boards, backed in vellum, gilt lettered spine. Tiny bookseller's label to the rear pastedown. The first edition is 1934, the first illustrated edition is 1935 and this edition uses those illustrations. A poignant novel of sentiment, love, loss and enudrance. An exploration of the teaching profession, the passage of time, and the enduring effects of human connections. The film adaptation was nominated for 7 Oscars in 1939, with Robert Donat winning best actor.Hardcover.
