Paris: Francis Bernouard, June 20 - December 20, 1920. 13 volumes in the 13 original fascicles. Limited First Edition, One of 1400 printed on Verge d’ Arches. With 41 engraved plates, 40 of which are hand-coloured, each captioned. 8vo, each fascicle in its original paper wrappers printed and decorated in several colours, and each one in original glassine as well. Now nicely boxed. A very fine set indeed, essentially without flaw. RARE FIRST EDITION. A beautifully illustrated record of fashion in the heady first years after the Great War. A time known and remembered for decadence and new styles as clothing entered the Mod era and women began to liberate themselves from the heavy formal clothing of the past. The plates depict fashion for both men and women, and included clothing, hairstyles and even furniture. Many of the Art Deco period’s best engravers and illustrators in France were involved.
