Index. illustrated endpapers. Description: The dust jacket and endpaper art show artist's initials C. E. Includes six double sided b&w plates with facsimile illustrations or historic photographs. This was originally published in 1887 in a paperbound edition. This edition has an introduction and notes by J E Reynolds. The subtitle reads: ''Thrilling exploits of their arch-enemy Sheriff Harry N Morse (for many years the terror of the brigands of California -- a man of intrepid courage, wonderful skill, and splendid leadership); Some of his desperate hand to hand encounters with bandits.'' Includes a biographical sketch from the Bancroft Library of Sheriff Morse. Morris was sheriff of Alameda County, 1864-1878. [listed in Six-Guns, Number 2002]
