Paris: Librairie Des Bibliophiles E Flammarion, 1926. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 7" by 4.5". None. A smart copy of this famous novel by Alphonse de Lamartine, in the original French language. French language. Illustrated with frontispiece and four plates. Collated complete. During a trip to Naples, a young French man falls for a fisherman's granddaughter. They are separated when he must return to France and soon after she passes away. The novel is based on the author's own experience with a tobacco-leaf folder in the early 1810s. With the author's poem "Le Premier Regret" to the rear of the text. Written by Alphonse de Lamartine, a French author, poet, and statesman considered instrumental in the foundation of the French Second Republic. Bound in quarter crushed morocco with patterned boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning. Very Good Indeed
