October 1845 offprint from the AMERICAN QUARTERLY JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURE AND SCIENCE. An early report of the discovery and anatomy of the mastodon skeleton excavated in Newburgh, New York, in August 1845, which would come to be known as the Warren Mastodon. The skeleton, one of the most complete ever found, has been exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History since 1906.
The author of the article was likely A. J. Prime, the Newburgh-based co-editor of the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF AGRICULTURE AND SCIENCE.
