Hardcover first edition with dust jacket, published by Doubleday, 1945. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped, original price of $2.50 printed on the top corner of the front flap. The story of four generations of the Melendy family from Seattle to Alaska, from 1851 to 1941. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover, though it has been taped to the boards with narrow strips of masking tape. Edge wear and crease marks to the top 1/4 inch of the front panel of the jacket, and some short closed tears on the back panel of about 1/4 inch each. Green cloth covered boards, with the masking tape from the jacket cover still attached. Very little wear to the boards, no edge wear and the corners are not bumped. Topstain is a bit faded. Rough fore edge text block, sewn binding, edges of the text are relatively clean, binding is tight and square. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Original vintage bookstore sticker on the bottom of the front flap. Age appropriate age tanning to the text pages. Not a library discard. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
