6. Theme :

This novel tells about a love story journey of two important people that very complicated but end with happiness. Wealthness is also the other major theme of the story that the characters searching for richness and also suffered because of the wealth.

7. Character and Characterization :

a. Letia Long : a successful beautiful actreess who have many dating experience with different men in her life.

b. Sturges Strong : a youthful prodigy, graduated from University of Yale who made a spectacular success of a magazine called FACTS. He won through to a great fortune and great power as editor-owner.

c. Randy Phelps : the ex husband of Letia that very rich. He married to Rosalie after the divorce with Letia.

d. Orlando : Letia’s coach and closefriend in the theater college. He was very care for Letia and gave his advice to Letia when she got down.

8. Setting

• of time :

- In the fall of 1926, Letia got her first part in Broadway show.

- In the evening, Randy Phelps asked Letia to marry him.

- The last month, Sturge was at Yale and had let himself get out of touch with his roommate.

- The day after they met, Letia began thinking herself as Sturges’ wife.

• of place :

- On sofa in Letia’s house, Letia spent her evening with a boy (Horace) for the first time.

- Behind the big desk in hospital where Letia had hospitalized, she found mail from Randy and Sally.

- In the Airport of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sturge coming back from California.

9. Plot/ Summary :

Letia was a very beautiful girl published by her mother to become an actresses- her father passed away when she was ten, then her mother married for the second time to a broker. She was very thinkful for almost every single part of life. She thought that boys are competitor actually for money. But she was very curious about boys. In her life, she had dating with some different men. She had dating with Horace as her early puppy love, with Hugo in highschool, with Orlando-her coach in theater college, with Joe-a junior editor, and married a very rich man named Randolph Pelphs for about four years but then divorce because of the society. After the divorce, Randy married to Rosalie.

After the divorce with Randy, Letia established to some bussiness. She became a stylist, designer, painter, and best seller writer. She met her successful life and met Sturge Strong- a youthful prodigy who was graduated from University of Yale and made a spectacular success of a magazine called FACTS. He won through to a great fortune and great power as editor-owner. Sturge asked her to marry him. Letia thinking of herself married for the second time. She felt that it will be hard. But finally, the that two important people got married.

Letia found her star marries and successfull life with Sturge and began enters the arena of internationalism with the War- and politics.
