About This Item
NY: Dial Press, 1968. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good +. First edition of the1969 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award play inscribed by playwright Sackler on the ffe: "for Marshall with ever increasing admiration - thanks". We can speculate that Marshall might be Marshall Brickman, accomplished screenwriter (Oscar for "Annie Hall") and playwright (Tony Award for the book of "The Jersey Boys") who, born in 1939, would have been a NY theatre contemporary of Sackler (1929 - 1989). Book near fine except for a dusty top edge, apparently unread (no bookplates, etc) in unclipped dustjacket with modest surface wear at corners and spine tips. Distinctively, on the copyright page, this first edition copy has a pasted-in copyright statement, which was apparently neglected in some first printings of the first edition, but no issue point has been established that we are aware of.
