About This Item
Greater London: A Narrative of its History, its People and its Places, by Edward Walford, M.A., illustrated with numerous engravings, in two volumes.
Hardback, 1894 & 1895, presumed first editions, published by Cassell and Company, Limited, London, 560 + 576 pages. Pocket in front pastedown of second volume contains a separate map of the Greater London area, although it contains several tears and the lower half of it appears to be missing.
Pictorial and patterned cloth boards and spines with gilt lettering and detail. Boards and spines are very worn, rubbed, scuffed and marked, though detail still reasonably visible, though less so on spine of first volume. Corners a little bumped. Binding holding, though strained. Inner hinges cracked, tape repair to front inner hinge of second volume and textblock barely attached to binding at rear. Page edges browned and marked. A few tears to pages here and there and some marks but otherwise page surfaces are quite clean and appear to contain no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
