About This Item
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971. First edition, paperback issue (there was a simultaneous, and notably scarce, issue in boards). Quarto. Pictorial card wrappers; 108pp. Mild external rubbing and wear, else a tight, straight copy, Very Good or better. Text clean, fresh and unmarked. Laid in are four early publications of the Maryland Citizens Coalition for Cable Communications, including Issue no. 2 of the Coalition's newsletter (May, 1973). Part manifesto, part how-to manual for would-be video activists and pirate broadcasters. A nicely preserved copy. The laid-in materials must be some of the earliest relating to public advocacy concerning the licensure and regulation of cable television programming, predating by several years the expansion of large-scale cable networks into most American cities.
