Fair to Good-. Half leather with paper labels, rubbed and no longer legible. Moderate wear to exterior, corners are lightly stained from water damage. Light top corner tip stained. No former owner marks. In Fraktur. August Hermann Niemeyer (1754-1828) was a German Protestant theologian, teacher, a writer and a Prussian political educator. He was a friend of Goethe's and participated in bridging between theological and everyday work of pedagogy in Germany. Niemeyer's principal work, "Principles of education and teaching", was published over numerous editions and translated into several language. This edition is published in a series of reprints of importance to the development and practice of pedagogy in Germany: Beyer's "Bibliothek Pädagogischer Klassiker, Eine Sammlung Der Bedeutendsten Pädagogischen Schriften Älterer Und Neuerer Zeit, edited by Friedrich Mann
