Illustrator: Photographic. preface by author, appendix, bibliography, books and pamphlets by H. /G. Wells, sources of main quotations and index. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, of H. G. Wells. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The first biography of H. G. Wells after his death in 1946. Softening of the head and of the hill of the backstrip and rubbing to the lower book edges. The spine is quite severely cold. Browning and foxing to the endpapers. Offset tanning, browning and foxing to the endpapers and the foxing is to the first few pages and last few pages of the book. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower left-hand corner of the free front end paper, and previous owners name to the top edge of the same page. Chipping it to the dustwrapper corners and to the head and to the heel of the backstrip. Fading to the backstrip and a few small closed tears to the top dustwrapper edge. A small piece missing from the lower edge of the front dustwrapper panel. Creasing to the dustwrapper edges and creases. Sunning to the backstrip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
