About This Item

Melbourne; The Miegunyah Press; 1997.. Demy 4to; Vol. I. pp. xii, 468; numerous text illustrations, charts and plans, Notes, Bibliography, Index of Individuals and Locations, Vol. II. Case of 15 detailed folding ship drawings and plans. Both volumes in original red cloth, titles lettered in gilt on spines and front boards, housed in original illustrated red cloth slip case; a fine set. H.M. Bark Endeavour is a fitting companion and supplement to the standard works on Cook's voyages. The work is the result of a most painstaking study of the Endeavour and a unique account of a great journey of discovery up the east coast of New Holland (Australia) in the year 1770. The text is accompanied by a series of plans and figures depicting the ship's architecture and construction, her deck plan, rigging, sails, armaments, boats, cables, anchors and accommodation.
