In early 1942 a group of 29 Navajo Marines fresh out of boot camp were taken to a room to devise a military code based on their native unwritten Navajo language that the military could use in the Pacific Theater with them being the radio men. This book documents the formation and use of the Navajo Code, the Navajo Code Talkers themselves, their upbringing of racism and boarding schools. The code was usable, unbreakable, and saved many Marines' lives. A clean very presentable copy.
