About This Item

London & Belfast: William Heinemann, 1911. Moore's lighthearted autobiographical novel is regarded as one of his best works.A trilogy, published individually over several years. Here is a set of all three volumes: "Ave" (1911], "Salve" (1912), and "Vale" (1914). Fine copies of the First Editions. Dark blue cloth binding, decoratively stamped on the front cover, with ruling and titling in gilt on the spine. Rear cover has a blindstamped publisher's circular monogram. 367 pages, 379 pages, 363 pages. "Ave" is the second issue with two titles "By the Author" before the half-title page, with two titles "In Preparation." "Salve" is the first issue, with the scarce errata slip. "Val;e" is the second issue, with the type on the half-title page corrected. [cf. Gilcher, A31] Laid-in to "Vale" is a NY Times clipping form 1914, a review of the final volume. The clipping has produced some offset to the rear paste-down. Occasional light pencil notes do not detract from this exceptional set.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
