Skyler was there photographing the people and their way of life when the earthquake struck. The first third of the book is filled with portraits of fisherman, farmers, and common citizens of Haiti and the rest deals with the awesome destruction of the land , buildings, infrastructure, and the survivors, injured and in mourning. The strength and beauty of these people shows through the unspeakable sorrow and pain they suffered. These photos take on a cinematic quality as well as serve as important documentation of the plight of all man when he is subjected to a sudden and unexpected horror.
